Oaf: 2016 Tour Tape cassette
Excellent follow up to their 7" that Derenaged put out. Ugly, noisy and heavy as fuck. final offering unfortunately
Our take: Three song tour tape from this Canadian band, and unfortunately it looks like it's going to be their final release. On this release in particular, Oaf remind me of a mix of Blazing Eye and Hoax. Like Hoax, they rely on S&M imagery in their graphics and lyrics (like "Submit") and they have a similar mid-range-heavy guitar sound. However, they rely heavily on that pogo beat that Blazing Eye have all but patented, and the singer has a little bit of the G.I.S.M. / Zouo vibe that the singer from Blazing Eye has as well. I doubt that those bands are heavy influences on Oaf as they're more contemporaries than progeny, but if you like the dark, metallic sound of those two bands it's not too late to grab this and their 7" on Deranged.
