Summer in Abaddon, Pinback's 2004 debut on Touch & Go Records, is a gorgeous piece of indie-pop: dreamy soundscapes, breathy harmonizing vocals, deep bass overtones, piano interludes, surprising structures and time signatures, and a wee bit of aggressive guitar for flavor. While it was recorded at co-leader Zach Smith's home studio it's definitely not a low-fi experience.
