Sickoids: S/T 12"

BRILLIANT debut full-length from Philadelphia's Sickoids. This band has one of the most original and fully-realized sounds I've heard in a long time. The guitars are heavy, but the guy plays all kinds of weird Die Kreuzen-esque chords, while the drums and bass cleverly augment things and give the music the dense and ambitious edge of post-punk while retaining all of the intensity of classic hardcore. It's like Pusmort Records-style punk (Christ on Parade, mid-period Poison Idea, etc.) mashed up with a bit of anarcho punk and the intensity of the best modern d-beat to create something wholly original and downright awe-inspiring. I know it's only April, but this is a serious contender for record of the year. Highest possible recommendation! Residue Records
